Abstract Yersinia enterocolitica is a gastrointestinal pathogen responsible for yersiniosis, the fourth most frequently notified zoonoses in Europe (EFSA-ECDC 2021). The notification of yersiniosis is mandatory in most of the EU/EEA countries, except for six Member States, including Italy, where notification is voluntary, in compliance with Directive 2003/99/EC. In order to obtain more information on the circulation of Y. enterocolitica in the Marche Region, the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale Umbria-Marche, through the Food Control Laboratory of Fermo City, carried out a three-year monitoring (2018-2020) of its diffusion, analyzing pork meat products and preparations and fresh-cut vegetables. The method used was the UNI CEI ISO / TS 18867: 2015 + app.B1 and UNI EN ISO 10273: 2017, detecting ail-positive Y. enterocolitica. Although circulation of Y. enterocolitica in these matrices resulted at low levels, the work has highlighted the necessity of a basic surveillance to monitor the situation over time, in order to contain risks for the consumer.
