Abstract   Swine flu virus (SIV) is endemic in most countries of the world and it is recognized as "door opener" for other infectious agents. Moreover SIV can be responsible of reproductive disorders. in Umbria, pig farming is widespread in two main typologies: - intensive farms (multi-site and fattening units); - small family-farms (self-consumption or niche products) both indoor and outdoor. The aim of our work was the evaluation of the seroprevalence of SIV within Umbria territory as well as the circulating subtypes present. The results highlighted a limited spread of SIV with the presence of subtype H1N1. Pandemic H1N1 variant and type D influenza virus, were not detected.
