Abstract This case study intends to promote the creation of a new open access information service, based on the resources of the scientific libraries. Thanks to these, an informational channel, in the context of Open Access peer-reviewed publications (and Open Data derivatives) will be created. Structured in appropriate ways, it can be made freely available to freelancers and entrepreneurs of innovative startups. The initiative aims to encourage a new contact between scientific research, professional and entrepreneurial activities linked to the territory, using the appropriate tools and resources of the library. Therefore it is necessary to develop a self-management model of updated scientific information in the Biomedical and Agro-zootechnical field that makes use of all the available resources. The initiative, which can be possibly implemented in the Libraries of University and Research Institutes, also aspire to represent a point of contact between active research and the freelance activity in the field
